KKPP Partners with TTC to supply a special planting project
Kerikeri Plant Production was excited to partner with Trees That Count to supply a special farm in the Hokianga with some of our beautiful native plants.
The selection of natives which included, Puriri, Hoheria, Manuka, Kanuka, Karo, Titoki and many more will be planted across this 200ha farm in the North Hokianga.
This project has planted over 20,000 trees already and aims to re-introduce a further 60,000 natives over the next 3 years.
This year’s planting was just one of many projects, part of a native tree initiative to plant 100,000 trees across New Zealand in honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee.
The team at Kerikeri Plant Production were able to source many of the species’ seeds from the local Northland area and started much of the propagation over the last 18 months to have the plants ready for the 2022 planting season.
Other Natives supplied to the project included Towai, Kauri, Rimu, Kohuhu, Akeake, Tanekaha and Kowhai. This collection of beautiful natives will benefit this farm as well as the wider NZ community for generations to come.
